All year around, the temperatures in the Mekong Delta are approximately 25-28°C with just slight variations. The preferred travel time in the Mekong Delta is the dry season from October / November to April / May. But the Mekong Delta can also be visited  even during the rainy season from May to October. Mostly in the afternoon, the rain often comes in short and heavy showers, which lasts for only an hour or so. There is only a few days in a year having the temperature of below 20°C.

These months from October to January are the main tourist season. So far during the off-season from March to September, only a few tourists find their way into the Mekong Delta. Despite of the necessarily imperfect weather at this time, there are the advantages of significantly fewer travelers and more favorable prices.

Most of the Mekong Delta’s area, where Mekong River reaches its end-point and approaches the sea, is covered with many small distributaries of the Mekong River. Therefore, the regional lifestyle is very unique and different from those of other regions in Vietnam. In Mekong Delta, there are floating markets, where you can see the local people sell and exchange merchandises directly on water. In addition, this delta is also well known for its beautiful nature, many delicious tropical fruits together with rich culture. jahan mekong cruise

During these dry months from December to May, when the sky is crystal clear, the water is calm and the land is lush, is when the Mekong Delta reveals its best. Though it may be hot and humid, these months from June to September are the only time when the largest variety of tropical fruit is available. During October and November, this region, especially in remote areas around Tra Vinh and Dong Thap expects occasional flooding, so if you are travelling in these months, stay informed of regional weather forecast ahead of your trip!
